A RED FLAG REQUEST In February of 2007, Le Pouf recieved a service inquiry from a woman needing her dog to be walked and fed daily while she worked...at the dog daycare she owned. We thought the request was rather odd, until we went for our consultation. "I just really don't have the time to look after her here, I want to make sure she's safe and comfortable." If she cannot keep her own dog safe and comfortable at the dog daycare she owns and single handedly runs, how on earth is she keeping anyone else's dog safe and comfortable? As we continued to discuss her needs, a potential customer came in and asked for a tour; we told the owner that we had plenty of time to wait, understanding the need to get new customers. To our surprise, she told the man that she only does tours by appointment, and she would not even allow him to look around the main room himself. We later discovered that this is because the floors were covered in urine and feces, and the feces were allowed to remain long enough to be eaten, something she told us she allows. She conducted a lengthy interview of Le Pouf, in fact, a 90 minute interview during which she left the dogs in her care completely unattended; they were not even visible to her. The experience was appalling and felt unreal. I left feeling extremely concerned about the welfare of those animals, feeling a moral burden to act, but realizing that nothing she did was 'against the law', and to reveal her identity would be a liability. |
